Project Breakdown: Casa de Frick
This particular project is extra special, as it’s both one of my favorites but is also the home to some pretty amazing people. John Frick, from Level Building Projects, also my builder on Breaking Bland, his wife Sarah, owner of The Works & The Works Cycle, live in this contemporary, funky, music-inspired home. Every room is a conversation starter and all of the decor tells a story. The home represents the Frick’s passions, creative expressions and positive energy.
Let’s start with the heart of any home: the kitchen. This kitchen is bright, light and open, mixed with the warm tones of the flooring, exposed beam and bar seats. The art deco-inspired lighting adds a layer of texture and movement.

The music room. I think every home should have a music room, especially if it looks like this music room. Custom cabinetry, the legends wall and wet bar makes this the perfect space to gather.

Let’s journey into this beautiful bathroom. With the horizontal line work on the walls, it was important that the sconces and lighting not clash with the directional lines. The curved finishes add a variety in shape and directional lines, while the color adds that warm tone.

What’s an easy way to create a space into a conversation starter? Add artwork, findings and photos of your life to the walls of a common room. I’m also absolutely in love with that mirror!
